Shopping
You may be surprised to find so many quality shops on an island such as Texel. Whether you are looking for new clothes, household accessories or a good book, you will enjoy the shopping here. In addition, almost every village has one or several supermarkets. Or perhaps you would like to visit a market?
Most of the shops are in Texel's ""capital"" Den Burg, and these range from small boutiques to international chain stores. On Monday morning, the centre of Den Burg is enlivened by its inviting market. The seaside resort of De Koog also has plenty of good shops, particularly if you are looking for beach accessories, camping equipment or sportswear. There are also some clothes shops and home improvement stores. When you have finished shopping, you can take a break at one of the many sidewalk cafés. De Cockdorp is another village with a real holiday atmosphere, and in and around this village, you will find a number of specialist shops, which are pleasant places for having a ""good look round"". In Oudeschild and its environs, there are several large stores, mainly specialist retailers, for some great retail therapy. For an exhaustive list per village, please see the Bedrijvengids (a directory of companies).
Practically every village has at least one supermarket and several delicatessens for your daily shopping.
If you enjoy visiting friendly markets, you will find a good many on Texel, especially in the summer months.
For flea markets and other markets, please see our Agenda.
In De Koog, every Sunday features Sunday shopping. For Sunday shopping in Den Burg, please see the Winkelhart van Texel website.
