Texel Plastic Free

Texel Plastic Free is a foundation dedicated to keeping our beaches clean. They do this through beach comb cages and clean-up campaigns.

Clean-up day

Help keep Texel's beaches clean! On the first Saturday of every month, you can join us to collect litter together. Everyone is welcome to join in. Texel Plastic Free checks each month where the most plastic can be found. At 10 a.m., the clean-up session then starts at that location. The walk takes about two hours and afterwards there is time for a cup of coffee and good conversation. In our diary you can see when and where a clean up will take place.

Beachcombing cages

The foundation has placed beachcombing cages at a number of locations along the Texel coast. These are steel containers into which you can throw found plastic during your beach visit. The cages are a great success! Texel Plastic Free is emptying the bins every week and recycling the material. Do you spot a full bin? Report it via 0031 6 319 550 25 or info@texelplasticvrij.nl. Please note: dog waste bags and the like do not belong in the jute cages!

Peukenpotjes

You may have spotted Texel Plastic free's cigarette jars on the TESO verry, or at another location on the island. A godsend for smokers. Finished your cigarette? Use one of these stylish "peukenpotjes" to keep the stub and hand it over to the rubbish bin when you get home.

Education

Texel Plastic free will also go out with primary school pupils to jut plastic. The pupils search, collect and select all kinds of waste and natural materials that can be found on Texel's beaches.
