Four hundred years old, De Oudheidkamer
Have you ever heard of black-rushed corpus? In this museum you can see and buy this very rare herb. So step inside the oldest house in Texel (1599) where life on Texel around 1900 can be experienced firsthand.
Ascend to the attic where changing exhibitions can be seen. Under the high ceiling of the living room was eaten, drunk, prayed and slept. In the kitchen, coffee and tea had made their appearance, the water came out of the pump and was boiled on the paraffin stove. In the upstairs room, or showroom, the visit was received. Descend to the dark cellar that once served as a fridge. The time of your great-great-grandmother comes to life.
The Oudheidkamer is a complete museum with period rooms, cellar, attic and the smallest public herb garden in the Netherlands.
In this museum for connoisseurs you will go back in time.
The Oudheidkamer is open from 1 April to 31 October, look for the current opening times on their own site.
