Winner first prize: Lambs on De Hoge Berg

Adopt a piece of Hoge Berg

With centuries-old garden walls, sheep pens and rolling grasslands full of sheep and lambs, the Hoge Berg landscape reserve is one of those characteristic landscapes that are so typical of Texel. But its future is at stake.

Grassland is disappearing

High land prices threaten to cause the grassland to disappear. Sheep farmers can no longer purchase or lease grassland that becomes available. If that happens, we will not only lose the charm, nature and history of De Hoge Berg, but also another Texel icon: the Texelaar, our Texel sheep.

Your help is needed

Fortunately, it is not too late: together we can ensure that this unique Texel landscape is preserved. With your help, Gebiedscoöperatie De Hoge Berg can purchase land and ensure that it remains grassland. This will keep the landscape intact and ensure that Texel sheep and lambs remain part of this cultural-historical area.

Adopt a piece of Hoge Berg

Would you like to adopt a piece of Hoge Berg? You will receive a certificate stating how many square metres you have adopted. If you adopt a larger number of square metres, you will also receive a nice thank-you gift. Your certificate with the “purchased” metres is valid for one year from the date of adoption.

How your contribution makes a difference

With your donation or investment, you contribute to:

  • The preservation of the Hoge Berg area
  • Sheep in the meadows and the preservation of sheep pens and garden walls
  • Greater biodiversity: flowers, herbs, insects
  • Lower emissions and greater CO₂ storage
  • Continued enjoyment of Texel's unique cultural landscape

Gift idea

Give a few square metres of Hoge Berg as a gift! This way, you can get others excited about this unique part of Texel. You can have the certificate sent directly to the recipient or to yourself.
