Flora, the beach-combing and shipwreck museum

Visitors to the Flora maritime and beachcombers' museum will experience the tough, rugged world of beachcombing and learn about pilotage, the life-boat service and the fishing industry.
According to beachcombers on Texel, Flora is the first and biggest beachcombers' museum in the world. The heart of the exhibition is formed by a colourful collection of objects that have been washed up on the beach of Texel over the last 75 years. Prepare to be surprised by the large number of crazy, comical, fun and special items discovered.
Some of the many special objects that you will see in the large outside and courtyard areas were recovered by Texel's North Sea fishermen; they include anchors, buoys and oars and even complete aircraft engines.

For children

The Flora maritime and beachcombers' museum is a great place for a family trip. Children can do a quest through the museum, games are organised for them and they can sit in a real escape pod. Children are also guaranteed hours of fun in the big play garden, which features a play tower, swings, a standing see-saw, a 30-m aerial runway and a big playing field. You will also find picnic tables here, where you can relax with a drink and eat your packed lunch. As if that wasn't enough, there's a museum café and a welcoming terrace too.
