The popularity of the game of golf has taken-off enormously in recent years. Since 2000, the number of players in the Netherlands has doubled, making it the third most popular sport in the Netherlands. There are over 200 golf courses in the Netherlands and Texel features one of them.
Where can I play golf on Texel?
Texel boasts a great 18-hole, A-status golf course; Golfbaan De Texelse. This golf course nestles among the dunes in the northern part of Texel. It is an exceptional course, with dunes, water features, large greens and a unique Par-3 course specifically for new players. More experienced players will love the Par 72-course with its challenging hazards. You can book the complete golf package or classes at the golf school, which offers introductory lessons or a full course of lessons. The golf shop has all the necessary equipment for sale or hire.
If you are not so serious about golf, perhaps farmer’s golf is the game for you. Texel features a genuine 10-hole farmer’s golf course. A course with hazards that were constructed with the help of Farmer Jaap Lap at the foot of Hoornder Church among the tuunwoalen. Texel sheep farming is the main theme of the game and the game is played among the sheep. It's lots of fun for all ages! Please book on time by De Toegift @Klif 12.
If you are visiting the island with a large group of people, we recommend a game of beach golf. As the name implies, you play on the beach and it's a lot more difficult than it sounds. That's why you'll get started on practising your swing and putting. Once you have mastered the basics, you can move on to the beach golf course. Beach golf is arranged by Teambuilding Texel for groups of 8 and over.
Of course, you can also play a game of midget golf on Texel at Circuitpark Karting Texel. It's fun for all ages! There is a playground and a picnic area too where you can take a break.
Glow-in-the-dark midget golf
At De Krim Holiday Park, you can visit the indoor midget golf course with glow-in-the-dark effects: the holes, walls and hazards of this 18-hole marine-themed midget golf course light up in the dark.
