Nature gardens on Texel

Texel is home to several nature gardens. In these gardens, you experience the local flora and fauna up close. See, taste and smell the indigenous plants, flowers and fruits. An ideal outing for the true nature lover. We have listed all Texel's nature gardens for you:

VoedselbosTexel

Voedselbos Texel is a fun day out for the whole family! A young, growing food forest, to come and wander, play, look around and relax.
There is a gnome trail, a playground and a nice place to sit with tea and sweets. Many local Texel delicacies and gift packages are available in the farm shop, in addition to homemade products.

Natuur Goed

Natuur Goed is an edible garden on the outskirts of Oosterend. A surprising number of edible plants, berries and nuts grow on the huge site. Owners Siem and Conradine create edible nature, inspired by currents of permaculture, food forests and garden and landscape architecture. You can also go there for tea tasting and lunch.

  • Nature Good is open from May to October, on Thursdays to Saturdays
  • Visiting time for a guided walk is from 2pm - 5pm
  • During this period, you can visit the shop for jams, teas, honey, gift vouchers, plants, seeds and vegetables

Novalishoeve

This care farm is located near Den Hoorn and has an edible garden as well as a day café, bakery, shop and cheese dairy. The stables, production areas and the garden of Novalishoeve are a true voyage of discovery for your senses. This is also a wonderful place for children!

  • Novalishoeve's shop and day café are open Monday to Saturday from 09:30 to 16:30

Landgoed de Bonte Belevenis

Did you know that we also have cranberries on Texel? At Landgoed de Bonte Belevenis, they are grown in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Visit the estate and join the guided tour. Owners Jan and Jantina will teach all about the berries: from cultivation to harvesting. The shop features handmade and home-brewed products such as whisky, beers, candles, soaps, sweets and more!

  • The cranberries bloom in June and are harvested in September/October
  • Guided tours are provided during the growing season
  • The Bonte Belevenis' liquor store and shop are open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm

Flower garden Bloemrijk Texel

Gardener Vincent Lap started sowing native flowers near Den Hoorn to help bees and other insects on the island. You can view this field whenever you want. If you adopt a ‘square metre of Texel’ yourself, you will receive a personal certificate and invitations to the plot for a tour by the farmer, among other things. As an adopter, you can also come and pick a bunch of flowers.

De Waelde Tuin

Taste the ‘waeldernis’ in Texel's orchard. From apples and pears to plums and herbs. There is all sorts of things to pick, taste and smell. The beautiful produce grown here is used by Kook Atelier Op Oost and is also available in the Waelde shop.

  • The Waelde Garden is open from April to mid-October
  • Near the shop you will also find a roadside stall

Oosterend botanical garden

You can relax in the botanical garden on Kotterstraat. The nature area with native plants is maintained by volunteers and is freely accessible. Take a stroll or enjoy the peace and quiet on a bench. Several walking routes also start at this location.
