Churches on Texel

There are many churches on Texel, do you know how to find them all? See below our tips for five of the most beautiful churches on Texel.

1. The Hoornderkerkje

The little church in Den Hoorn is one of Texel's most photogenic churches. This church was built in 1425 and used to be a beacon for shipping. You can visit this beautiful church from April to October on Wednesdays from 11am to 4pm or on Thursdays from 1pm to 4pm. There are also regular (classical) concerts. Check our agenda.

2. The Burght in Den Burg

You can see this church from far away in Den Burg because of its size. In the summer months, you can climb the church tower on certain days. You will then have a wonderful view over Den Burg and the rest of the island.

3. Church in De Koog

The white church in De Koog is located in the Dorpsstraat. The original church was built in 1415. It was replaced in 1719. Above the façade is a bell tower. This church cannot be visited, but you can take beautiful photos of it.

4. Seamen's church in Oudeschild

This church was built around 1650. It owes its name to the large number of sailors who used to visit this church. You can visit the Zeemanskerk on Thursdays between 13:30 and 16:00 in July and August.

5. Maartenskerk in Oosterend

The church in Oosterend is the oldest church on Texel and has been a national monument since 1976. You can visit this church in May and June on Wednesdays to Fridays from 13:30 - 16:00. In July, August, September and October also on Tuesdays.
