The Saint Nicholas weekend on Texel
Are you going to experience the national arrival of Saint Nicolas up close? Here you will find tips and information for an unforgettable weekend on Texel.
Before you come to Texel, you can follow Saint Nicolas and his helpers on their journey to Texel. From 10 November to 5 December, you can see Saint Nicolas and his helpers every day in the Sinterklaasjournaal at 6 p.m. on NPO Zapp (NPO 3). We look forward to welcoming Saint Nicolas and his helpers.
15 November, it's time for the arrival of Saint Nicolas in Oudeschild. Sinterklaas and his helpers are welcomed in a festive manner at the harbour. The arrival is open to the public. Before you set off, please check the information about accessibility and any additional measures relating to the arrival on the Texel Council website (site only available in Dutch).
The following week, on 22 November, you can attend the arrival and the performance of the Pietenband in Den Burg.
At the Fonteinsnol, you can take a pleasant 2.7 km walk through the woods. Along the way, children can climb, play hide and seek in the play forest and climb the observation tower to look out over the treetops. The route is pram and wheelchair friendly.
Visit one of Texel's museums where children can discover stories and go on treasure hunts. A great way to discover Texel in a different way.
Feel the wind in your hair, get some fresh air: the beach is perfect for getting some fresh air together. Bring a ball or kite, or go looking for shells along the tide line.
Texel has 140 kilometres of cycle paths. Get on your bike and explore the island along forests, dunes and villages, which is also a wonderful experience in autumn. We have put together We have compiled a list for you of various cycling and walking routes that are fun for children.
An overview of activities and promotions will follow shortly.
