As you probably already know, Texel is the ideal cycling island. Many day trippers go to the island in good weather to explore Texel by bicycle. Does that sound like a good plan? Then discover the many kilometers of cycle paths on the island. The cycle paths go through woods and dunes, so you cycle along the most beautiful nature reserves. Of course you can also explore the best spots on the island by moped. Take your bicycle or moped easily and cheaply on the ferry to Texel.

Boat information for bikes and mopeds

Cyclists and moped riders board through the terminal’s cycle entrance. You will be led to a special bicycle entrance on the ferry. Automatic sliding doors will let you ride to the other end of the boat. To reach the passenger deck and lounge, go up two floors. On the Dokter Wagemaker or Texelstroom ferry this deck can also be reached with a lift.

Departures to Texel

TESO, Texels Eigen Stoomboot Onderneming, sails every day on the half-hour from Den Helder to Texel. The first boat sails at 6.30 a.m. (except on Sundays). The last boat always leaves at 9.30 p.m. On Sundays from 1 April to 1 October the first sailing is at 7.30, and at 8.30 a.m. the rest of the year. On busy days the ferry sails twice an hour. The last boat to Texel always leaves at 9.30 p.m. The last boat from Texel to Den Helder always leaves at 9.00 p.m.

Fares

A return ticket for a bicycle or moped costs just € 2.50. Foldable bikes travel free of charge; the full fare applies to foldable bikes which are not folded.

How to buy a ferry ticket for a bicycle/moped

You can buy a ticket in advance from the TESO website, or buy your ticket at the ferry port in Dent Helder. The ticket counter is manned, and there are ticket automats. At the ticket counter you can pay only with a debit or credit card.
