Travel to Texel by public transport?

Would you prefer to travel by public transport to Texel and on the island itself? That is fine! You can travel to and on the island of Texel by public transport. On this page we give you more information about bus transport on Texel.

In Den Helder with the bus to the boat

At the train station in Den Helder, take bus 33 to the ferry port of the TESO. You can buy a ticket at the Connexxion counter in Den Helder or at the bus driver for € 3,05 (debit card or credit card) or with your OV Chipkaart.

At the ferry port in Den Helder you buy a boat return at the TESO counter. You do not have to pay a ticket for the boat back.

On Texel by bus to Den Burg or De Koog

If you want to travel with the Connexxion bus on Texel, you must leave the ferry on the right. From the bus station at the ferry terminal you can travel by bus line 28 to Den Burg (Elemert stop) or De Koog. This bus connects with the usual timetable of the TESO boat but also the so-called intermediate boats.

With the Texelhopper to other stops on Texel

For all other stops on the island you travel with the Texelhopper. The Texelhopper vans run from the first to the last ferry. So you can always be transported with Texelhopper from and to every regular ferry. There is no bus on Texel on the so-called intermediate boats (departure on the hour from Den Helder).There are more than 130 recognizable boarding places on Texel. Order Texelhopper in advance

The Texelhopper must be ordered at least half an hour beforehand - via www.texelhopper.nl/en/, the Texelhopper app or by telephone (+31 (0) 222-784000). When making a reservation, you will indicate where your nearest departure point is. Each stop has its own name and a number that can be seen on the stopping posts at the pick-up point. Please state where you want to go at the time of booking.

Paying your bus ticket on Texel

You pay for your trip in the Connexxion bus or the Texelhopper per kilometer with the OV chip card. It is still possible to buy separate travel tickets (the trip, day or family card).

When booking for the Texelhopper vans via www.texelhopper.nl/en/ or the Texelhopper app, you can pay with iDeal or credit card. You can also pay in the Texelhopper bus. If you buy a separate ticket in the Connexxion bus, you pay it to the driver with a PIN or credit card. Children up to 11 years of age travel free on both scheduled buses and the Texelhopper bus.

Travel everywhere

With the Overal Reizen subscription you can travel unlimited on Texel for € 114.90 per month (on the big bus as well as the small Texelhopper) and within the entire North-Holland North (regions Alkmaar, Hoorn, Den Helder and Schagen). There is also a subscription especially for young people (12-18 years), this costs € 87.04 per month.

Back to the train

Upon arrival at the ferry terminal in Den Helder you can board the train to the train station without showing a ticket; this ride is free. Leave the boat on the right and walk to the nearby bus stop. Because the bus must connect to the departure times of the train, travelers are expected to quickly walk to the bus and get on easily at one of the 3 opened doors.

• Albert Heijn Supermarket, Waalderstraat 48 Den Burg
• Primera Mets, Dorpsstraat 84 De Koog
• NS ticket machine at the ferry port.
