Autumn on Texel

There's more to autumn on Texel than meets the eye! Come for a brisk walk on the beach or enjoy the colourful displays formed by the trees in the Texel woods. With these tips for activities you will get through the fall.

There's always something to do in the autumn

Need inspiration? Visit one of the island's intriguing museums. The best exhibitions are always held in late autumn here. It's also fun to tour the unusual little shops in the various villages, or to visit one of the colourful art galleries that the island boasts.

On the road with a guide

Texel is a popular place for birdwatchers, as a large number of bird species can be found here. The autumn is a very good time to go on a bird-watching excursion and in De Cocksdorp, excursions and bird safaris are organised several times a week. Another typical autumn activity is a fungi excursion, which leaves from Ecomare.

Unusual shops

Texel's shops are truly one of a kind and lack the sameness found in other places. The quaint little shops and charming boutiques selling attractive gifts and souvenirs offer plenty of scope for retail therapy. Kees de Waal Woonaccessoires on Binnenburg in the centre of Den Burg is one of these exceptional stores. Occupying several linked premises, the shop is chockablock with appealing home accessories and knickknacks. Another example of a typical Texel shop is Mantje Lifestyle Stores, with branches in Den Burg and De Koog.
