Frolicking lambs in the meadow, the first blooming flowers and many outdoor activities: Texel gives you the ultimate spring feeling. Easter is a great time to stay on Texel. With these five tips you will experience a great Easter holiday on Texel.
The first lambs are already in the meadow! Wondering where you can spot them? Then check the Lammetjesradar to see the current locations of the lambs. The Little Lambs Bike Trail (in Dutch) guides you to some of Texel’s most beautiful spots, where the meadows are filled with lambs. The guide is available in our shop. The Lamb Walk is also highly recommended!
From Texel cheese from Wezenspyk or De Waddel to Bakker Timmer's Hoornderring, you can shop locally for a delicious Easter breakfast on Texel! Complete your breakfast with jam from the Voedselbos and juice from the Waelde Tuin.
During Easter, people often hunt for Easter eggs in their own back gardens or inside their homes. Did you know that on Texel, we hunt for Easter eggs “in the wild”? This can be done at various locations during the Easter weekend, such as at Natuurcentrum De Marel and in the dunes at Paal 28.
A bicycle tour along the flower bulb fields is highly recommended. Depending on weather conditions, the bulb fields bloom from late March to mid-May. You will find the fields mainly in the south and north of the island
Haven't seen enough flowers yet? Then visit the exhibition Sea of Flowers at Galerie Posthuys. There are paintings, ceramics and works on paper on display. It is one of the anniversary group exhibitions in which well-known artists from the gallery as well as new artists are presented.
Fancy something tasty in between? Enjoy an ice cream at IJsboerderij Labora or Novalishoeve. Delicious and artisanal ice cream, made with fresh milk and cream from their own dairy cows.
