Enjoy an Ascension weekend on Texel

Do you have a few days off at Ascension? Then come and enjoy the beautiful nature and fun activities on Texel! We give you some tips.

Go bird watching

May is a good month to go birdwatching on Texel. There are still plenty of migratory birds around. With some luck, you may spot a bee-eater or a ruff with a stuffed collar. Read more about the birds you can see this month here.

Learn something new

Fancy trying something new? On Texel's beach, you can take surfing, kite surfing or yoga lessons. Also for beginners! Want to go a bit more extreme? Then try ice bathing.

Visit an event

During the Ascension weekend, there are special events on the island. For example, go to fair BUTE, with music, snacks and drinks and a charity auction. Or visit the Uitmarkt BuitenGewoon Texel where the island's cultural agenda is presented.

Book an excursion

Mudflat excursion, bird excursion, orchid excursion, excursion by bike or on the beach... In our calender you will find plenty of excursions!

Go sailing

All kinds of boat trips depart from Texel onto the Wadden Sea. A seal watching trip, educational fishing trip, Razende Bol trip or trip to Vlieland. Which boat trip will you choose?

Hire a vehicle

Want to do an island tour by yourself? Hire a vehicle! From E-Chopper to Texelrider and from electric rental bike to TukTuk there is something for everyone.

You can find plenty of hiking routes on our website and in our shop. For a brisk walk, choose Pieter Kikkert's Walking Route, which is no less than 18 kilometres. In May, the De Hoge Berg hiking trail (6.5 kilometres) is also lovely. With children, the hiking trail Children's route Climbing and Playing (2.7 kilometres) is highly recommended.
