6 tips for Easter on Texel

Frolicking lambs in the meadow, the first blooming flowers and many outdoor activities: Texel gives you the ultimate spring feeling. Easter is a great time to stay on Texel. With these five tips you will experience a great Easter holiday on Texel.

1. Spotting lambs

The first lambs are already in the meadow! Wondering where you can spot them? Then check the Lammetjesradar to see the current locations of the lambs. The Little Lambs Bike Trail (in Dutch) guides you to some of Texel’s most beautiful spots, where the meadows are filled with lambs. If you think lambs are lovely, you could cuddle them: well, here’s your chance. At Texel Sheep Farm, lambs are born in almost every month of the year.

2. Easter breakfast with Texel products

From Texel cheese to Hoornderring from Bakker Timmer, Texel products will make this year's Easter breakfast very special! You can buy the products at many shops on the island, or have breakfast delivered to your accommodation by Texel Catering. Would you prefer brunch or a delicious high tea? That is also possible here.

3. Go on a wildlife excursion!

Our tip for a spring getaway: visit the natural wildlife area of De Geul to see the largest colony of spoonbills in the Netherlands. You can book the excursion “Breeding area birds De Geul” via Ecomare. Or go on an excursion in nature reserve De Schorren and walk across the mudflats and through the creeks.

4. Get an ice cream from the farmer

Fancy something tasty in between? Enjoy an ice cream at IJsboerderij Labora or Novalishoeve. Delicious and artisanal ice cream, made with fresh milk and cream from their own dairy cows.

5. Cycle past the flower bulb fields

A bicycle tour along the flower bulb fields is highly recommended. Depending on weather conditions, the bulb fields bloom from late March to mid-May. You will find the fields mainly in the south and north of the island

6. Easter eggs hunts

At Easter, many people like to look for Easter eggs in their gardens or in their homes, but did you know that, here on Texel, we hunt for Easter eggs “in the wild”? Easter is a wonderful time to holiday on Texel! There are plenty of organised activities on the island at Easter, but the real highlights are the Easter egg hunts.
