In lambing season, Texel sheep farmers are working day and night to supervise the birth wave in their stables. Here we introduce you to the 11 Texel sheep farmers whose lambs can be found via the Lammetjesradar. Together they have 3,500 Texel sheep that together provide some 8,000 lambs in the meadow every year. But who are the sheep farmers and what does their farm look like?

At the foot of the Hoge Berg sheep-farming area, De Waddel farm (dating from 1625) is a circular and nature-inclusive farm. Jan-Willem Bakker keeps 400 sheep, which together give birth to some 700 lambs in spring. Lamb meat, raw milk sheep's cheese and other products from the area are available in the farm shop and in the fresh and frozen vending machines.

Hans Witte owns Sheep Farm Texel with his son Lennart and daughter Mariska. Some 500 ewes will lamb on the farm this year. The farm is open to visitors. The farm shop sells sheep products such as wool and sheep cheese. You are also welcome to cuddle lambs at this farm.

Kees, Cor & John Hin

As many as 1,000 sheep will have one or more lambs at Farm Hoogvliet this year. Kees, Cor and John Hin's sheep and lambs roam around the farm on Nieuwlanderweg. The farm has its own campsite and farm shop, where lamb is sold.

Over 400 lambs will be born at 'Boer Jens' this year. Jens Barhorst runs the farm near Oosterend together with his parents Herman and Annette. The lambs graze around the farm, between the garden walls and next to the footpath 'Groeneweggetje'. Every Saturday morning, the farm sells meat from its own lambs and cows.

The Old White Angel is the farm of Jan, Annette and Mirjam Hin. This year, over 250 lambs will be born on their farm. The Hin family's sheep are kept organically.

On farm De Oorsprong, Henk runs a cattle farm. Every year, some 300 sheep 'lamb' at Henk's place. The farm stands at the highest point in the Eijerland polder. On the farm, you can also stay in the group accommodation. The bedroom window even overlooks the farrowing room!

Arjen Boerhorst

Together with his wife Lonneke, Arjen runs farm 'De Hoge Kamp'. Every year, 300 of their sheep give birth to lambs. On the farm campsite and , you can literally camp among the lambs. The farm shop on the farmyard sells the lamb and you can also buy other Texel products.

Ido and Pytsje run the farm 'Westerweg' together. They have about 200 sheep which are real showpieces. In fact, the Altenburg family often participates in shows. The trophy cabinet can be admired in the barn. There is also a farm shop with an extensive range of Texel products and products made with Texel ingredients. Want to enjoy the Texel scenery to the full? Spend the night in the holiday cottage or on the farm campsite and enjoy the wonderful view over the vast meadows with sheep and lambs.

The Kikkert family lives on farm the Temple. On their 'Kikkertsparadise', some 500 sheep give birth to over 800 lambs every year. On the farm, they also rent out a holiday home where you can stay during lambing season. When the lambs are all born, Martin and Ellen organise covered wagon rides on the Hoge Berg.

On the northern tip of Texel, Dirk and Mascha run their farm. This year, about 300 sheep will have lambs. These lambs graze on the dike and near the lighthouse. The farm also has cows, which are milked and the fresh milk is made into farm cheese. On the farm, you can also stay in various holiday homes or at the campsite.
